Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

I got a bit of break yesterday at one hospital, and had a little lunch (late), and while gnawing on a tuna sandwich, I finished reading Osprey New Vanguard #176: Imperial Japanese Navy Heavy Cruisers 1941 – 45 which I found had good graphics, and was pretty informative. One of my first experience with gaming was when my cousins from Minnesota would visit for Thanksgiving, and they'd bring Midway, an Avalon Hill game. Among the vessels depicted were several Japanese heavy cruisers; I can still recall the names, and, yes, the book does discuss them in detail. One of those odd things that sticks with you for decades, what can I say...

I found yesterday to be a bit taxing by the end of the day; not so much that there was a resurgence of my sinus infection, but I was really tired by hospital number three of four. Still, I got home by a reasonable hour. Rested. Read a couple of this week's comic books (first, Fables #117 - I expect further evil to happen, and fast; second, The Guild: Fawkes, another one-shot - some unexpected details of the personality of the character from the web video series). Then, since I've been ridiculously good this week, we went out to get some beef for me and ended up at Applebee's. Acceptable, not up to the standards of our home table, as my beloved's rub for steak gives it outstanding flavor. Still, having eaten, I felt much better!

We then wasted time on Erik the Viking which was terrible. I don't recall ever seeing it; my wife does. Maybe I was blocking the memory? Anyway, very bad, even though there's some pretty solid comedic talent in it.

We're also well into season four of Enterprise, and I'm not liking it much at all. I will finish, if only to say that I had, but I can see why they hemorrhaged viewers.

I'm on call again today; I intend to hit three nursing homes as well as the four hospitals, so that tomorrow will be relatively restful. I turn over call at 0700 on Tuesday...not that I'm counting the hours. Yet.
