Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

I finished reading Frankenstein midday, yesterday, and it's nothing like any of the movies, if you've not read it before. The book is written as a series of reports to other people about what went on, so right away you're realizing that what really happened is opened to interpretation. Different.

Then, before falling asleep last night, I read Osprey Command #26: Yamamoto Isoroku, a biographical work on the admiral who planned and executed that attack on Pearl Harbor in WWII. One fact that surprised (but shouldn't have) was that the admiral participated in the fighting in the Russo-Japanese War. I was also not aware that a shrine to this admiral was built on the site of his aircraft crash. Odd tidbits.

Yesterday was very busy.

We got out of the house in the late morning to meet some friends for lunch at Masa, where they like to go for pizza. They serve a deep dish pizza that our friends state rivals what comes from Chicago. However, since we're soon going to be in Chicago, we decided to forgo pizza, and had other dishes, which were good.

The daughter of some of other friends of ours noticed when I checked in via Yelp, and complained that we were so close, so we stopped by after lunch, and ran into Randy on the street by the house. Moments later, we were hanging out with the family, and chatted for an hour or so. Very pleasant. They shared their figs with us; tasty! We attempted an intervention, as they've announced that they're going Vegan, but we didn't succeed...

After a rest at home, we were picked up by the Archers, and went to get sushi at Kula Revolving Sushi in Rancho Cucamonga. Good food, just enough. It's obviously popular; we had a wait before we were seated, and lots of people were waiting for seats when we were done.

Today, I have to go to the office for instruction on how to use the electronic medical record system that goes online next month. Finally. It's a good thing I can touch type.
