Dead Dog Cat

At WorldCon this year, I attended a panel on military SF, at which it was mentioned that a team of authors who wrote such books that rang true for experienced soldiers were David Sherman and Dan Cragg, who write the Starfist series of novels. I'd seen them around, but had never picked any up. Subsequently, I found the first book of the series (in the Bay Area, of all things! Who'd have thought that???); I finished reading it this morning.

Vivid combat descriptions; the chapters on the training were also easy to visualize. I will be hunting up the other books of the series to read.

Although there were several things that we wanted to get out and do, yesterday, after the week I had, I just didn't have the energy. Instead, I rested. Sort of.

A little laundry, a little cleanup.

Some computer-related maintenance work.

But I did clear out some chaff from the DVR. I also played a DVD from the TV show Person of Interest; first disc season one. We liked it. We'll be doing the bulemic viewing thing as quick as Netflix can send them to us.

Finally, I wasted some time on the movie Abduction, which was pretty poor. Too many gaping holes, just to put together a teen action flick. Phooey.
