Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

It's been many years since I finished reading the entirety of Patrick O'Brian's series of naval novels, but recently I got my hands on Jack Aubrey Commands: An Historical Companion to the Naval World of Patrick O'Brian, and I quickly read it. For those not knowledgeable in nautical lore, it's chock full of explanations to clarify what's going on in the novels. Being that O'Brian doesn't stint on this verbiage, the book would have helped a lot had I had it back in the day. I'd recommend it for anyone just starting those novels; those reading other Napoleonic era sea stories would certainly benefit as well.
