Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

As we wind up the year, I managed to finish reading a couple of short items.

First was Equoid by Charles Stross. My, my, I do love his Laundry series of stories; even the short ones. They are a cross between James Bond and the works of H. P. Lovecraft. Amazing.

Next was a piece by Neil Gaiman, called How to Talk to Girls at Parties set at a party that perhaps they should have missed. Eerie. Nicely done. Leave you questioning...

We'll see if I can finish any other works by midnight tomorrow. I think I have too much work to do so, though...

Aside from the occasional dinner at a restaurant, we don't get out much on Monday nights, so we rarely go to Ground Control at The Complex in Glendale, but we did last night. Couldn't stay out too ridiculously late, due to work constraints, but we hung for a few hours, and chatted with various friends. The libations for sale were tasty, too. Ground Control, for those of my readers who've not heard of it, is an Industrial/Alternative karaoke, though the playlist includes a vast selection of almost anything (Heck, last night one lady gave a terrific rendition of Georgia on My Mind!). One fellow was even testing out lyrics to a new song for his rock group; they're pressing a new CD in the next few months! Very pleasant time, but it was just really getting rolling when we had to head home for a night's sleep.

Oh, well.
