Dead Dog Cat

On the trip, I'd nearly finished another book, and so yesterday I got the last pages done.

I've read lots of books by Paul Doherty (AKA P. C. Doherty) who has written many historical novels, mostly mysteries, and also a few non-fiction historical works. Yesterday the book I finished was Candle Flame, one of his Brother Athelstan series of books, in which a friar helps the Coroner of London work out murder mysteries.

Having read so many of Doherty's works, I would call this one pretty typical of his style. Unfortunately, you're not given all the information that the protagonist notices until the final reveal. OTOH, the book is filled with description of life in London of the Medieval Age, which is interesting in itself.

So, not bad, but not his best.
