We had the privelege of a visit from the daughter of friends; she stayed overnight and had fun with the menagerie as well as the garden. I showed her Asterix of Gaul, which she enjoyed, and in the early morning while my beloved slept, I let her watch the recent version of Charlotte's Web. A good day, all-in-all.

Over the last several days, I've been catching up on months of backlogged comics. First was Fairest #18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, which brings me up to date. The story's hopped about a bit, but not bad. This is the only spinoff from Fables that I'm presently reading.

Next was Telikos Protocol #1, 2, a new saga with interesting artwork; seems to be about Earth after severe environmental disaster, and the sudden arrival of aliens leading to first contact that is a mess, and entirely believeable. #3 is due ?

Then, Jim Butcher's Dresden Files: Ghoul Goblin #1, 2, 3, 4, 5; it finishes with #6, and I'm half done reading that right now, and I expect to finish it before I leave for work today. This is a standalone adventure of Harry Dresden (of whom, many books that I've read, and a former TV series that lasted...well, not long) unrelated to the present book saga. If you like Dresden, I'd say read this too. It's been collected into a graphic novel, if you're interested.

A day or two ago we finished watching season three of Sherlock, the brilliant BBC TV series setting the detective in the present. The writers on this series are astonishingly good. If you haven't tried this series, you are missing out.
