A couple of days ago I finished reading Osprey Raid #5: The Great Locomotive Chase: The Andrews Raid 1862 which deals with a Civil War raid. I've always had a certain repugnance for works set in the US Civil War going all the way back to my childhood. I really have a problem with the political incompetence that led to the South breaking away, so I admit that I rarely enjoy any works set in this period. I didn't enjoy this book all that much, therefore, and I suspect my lack of enjoyment is due to my own prejudices and not due to a lack of authorial competence.
