It's not a good day when there's a major mess on the freeway. So I pull off and head east on a sidestreet (8th). Unfortunately, when I want to turn north on Haven, 8th has no left turn. So, south I go to the next street, but I didn't notice that there was painted a double double yellow line with hashmarks, making a left turn illegal. I got pulled over by the police who were just sitting there waiting for folks to make the same mistake. I did luck out, though, in that they checked, and since it's been over a decade since my last ticket, they gave me a written warning instead. Oy.
