Years ago, I read about how the Chinese in the days of the Emperor, used to study classics of literature and philosophy to gain positions in the government. I always wondered how that could prepare a person to be a leader. It occured to me, much later, that our system in the US is no different, in that liberal arts colleges produce the leaders for our nation, with them studying classics of literature and philosophy, say, at the Ivy League schools.


I wonder how such people could be expected to manage a complex civilization with great technical problems...
