We went out to dinner last night with Elst and Carol and had a nice meal, though it took excessively long for it to be served. Conversation was top-notch, of course.
Home again, I browsed through the last disc from season one of ST:DS9, which was all special features, and they spent a lot of time, patting themselves on the back. Back to Netflix, it flies.
Watch out on those specials, season 2's has some MASSIVE spoilers.
Actually, even season one's specials had some spoilers. Feh!
The very person.
When I found out he had to move from L. A. to St. Louis for his Fifth Pathway program, on my own initiative I arranged his use of a friend's spare bedroom so that he wouldn't have the pressure of trying to find an apartment while working in his program and running up hotel expenses at the same time.
I figured it would be temporary, a few weeks or so at most. The friend in question is a generous person and wouldn't push him on it.
He stayed there rent free for six months or more, I forget the exact amount of time, but it saved him at least a couple of thousand dollars. It wouldn't have occurred without my setting it up for him as he knew nobody in St. Louis prior to his arrival.
He paid me back for my initiative, I discovered later when I moved back to St. Louis, by trashing me to everyone he met in St. Louis fandom.
I can understand the sour taste that would leave.forestcats
and I repeat a particular mantra to each other, whenever we do someone a favor: "No good deed goes unpunished."

Hee, DS9. I adore DS9. Dressed up as Kira the past two Halloweens, too (last year was for a sci-fi themed wedding on Halloween, actually). My former roommate wanted to do the first Halloween with her as the Indendant and me as Major Kira. Pretty cool stuff. Have you seen the entire series yet? (I don't want to spoil).
As for the extras, I find the ones with the actors not as bad (though these were all recorded after the show concluded), but Ira Steven Behr is just obnoxious. I'm starting to think a DS9 DVD Extras drinking game wouldn't be a bad idea... "chug the whole glass if Ira Steven Behr takes off his sunglasses!" Snotty ass.
When it originally ran, I saw possibly 35% of the episodes, weighted towards the early seasons. I worked through the showtimes, later on, and didn't try to tape them, so I lost track sometime during the War; about the time the Cardassians returned to the station, I think.
Never really got back into it, but since I'm slowly working my way through all the ST incarnations, I'll get it done. Someday.

I thought I'd seen the entirety of the first 3 seasons of DS9, and about half of season 4, before I just stopped watching it. Around the time Worf showed up I basically walked away from it, as it was no longer the show I'd enjoyed at the beginning.
We're also working our way through it, currently in season 2, and I'm astonished at the number of episodes I simply don't remember. I liked DS9 better than TNG, but I suspect if you picked a random TNG episode, chances are after a few minutes (or less) I'd say, "Oh, that one!" But 5 of the last 6 we've watched might as well have been entirely new to me.
I'm pretty sure I missed at least five of the episodes from season one, and that was the season that I'd seen the most from. Season seven? I might have seen one, total, but probably none at all.
