Busy day, yesterday, what with nursing home stops, and hospital work. When I'd finished that, it was pouring rain in San Dimas, so I thought twice about whether or not to visit axelicious and themodeinliz for their Christmas dinner, but in the end, I decided to chance it. Turns out that thirty or so miles west, it was not only not raining, but the sun was out. I got there much too early, but I helped out a bit with plumbing activities, and with table setting, so I didn't hold them up, trying to host/entertain for me. Food was good stuff, and I especially liked the one dish made with leeks. After watching the gang play some Rock Band, I headed home, early enough to take in one disc that froghugger lent me: Van Helsing. Not such a fine piece of work, that one. Constant action, with occasional quick scenes to speed along stage setting.

This morning, I tried to work my way through some four books from the library that I'd added, long ago, to my Amazon Wish List due to them sounding vaguely interesting; however, I'd never made a major effort to purchase any of them. Trying to read them, I recognize why that might be. For the most part they were either too dry, too disjoint, or just didn't catch my interest. They include The Crook Factory by Dan Simmons, Henry of Atlantic City by Frederick Reuss, Venice: A Maritime Republic by Frederic C. Lane, and The Tailor-King: The Rise and Fall of the Anabaptist Kingdom of Munster by Anthony Arthur. Too bad, so sad.
