I just finished reading Barbara Kingsolver's book about her attempt to feed herself as well as her family on locally-grown materials, including from their own garden for a year, called Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. Considering that at our house, some of our herbs, tomatoes and zucchini, as well as other items, often end up on our table, or as gifts to friends, and we get our apples from orchards the next range of hills over, this book struck quite a chord with me. It includes some recipes as well as tidbits of advice. Nicely done.
